The MMOB Daily Quote - Brooks Robinson

Brooks Calbert Robinson, Jr. (born May 18, 1937)

As a third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles, Brooks Robinson was dubbed
the human vacuum cleaner for his ability to track down nearly every ball hit his way. Over 23 years, all of them as an Oriole, he amassed some impressive numbers, was the American League MVP in 1964 and was ultimately elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983.

For a little extra "visualization" of Brooks' fine work on the field, check out this tribute on YouTube:

Now, let's bring in this beautiful Monday morning with a few quotes from Mr. Robinson.

“If you're not practicing, somebody else is, somewhere, and he'll be ready to take your job.”

“Whether you want to or not, you do serve as a role model. People will always put more faith in baseball players than anyone else.”

“I'm a guy who just wanted to see his name in the lineup everyday. To me, baseball was a passion to the point of obsession.”

“It's a pretty sure thing that the player's bat is what speaks loudest when it's contract time, but there are moments when the glove has the last word.”

“Fifty years from now I'll be just three inches of type in a record book.”

“I wouldn't mind seeing someone erase my record of hitting into four triple plays.”

Cheers! - Jason
