Artist Spotlight - Frank Frazetta

Frank Frazetta is another luminary from the world of comics. But his work burgeoned beyond the medium and into the popular culture with his fantasy art. I first came to appreciate his work on the covers of the Edgar Rice Burroughs interplanetary adventures for Doubleday's Science Fiction Book Club in the 1970's. From there I was hooked and tracked down whatever I could back to his earliest work in the 1940s. Two of the things missing from my own collection are any of his work ghosting for Al Capp on Li'l Abner and one of his Famous Funnies books with Buck Rogers covers.

Rather than try to retell his wide-ranging story here, I'll point you to an excellent online
Frank Frazetta Biography from the folks at www.frankfrazettaartgallery.com

In the interest of adding to your experience, I offer the following video clip which is a trailer for Frazetta: Painting with Fire. It should give you a little more insight into this creative, passionate and driven man and maybe tease you into going out and seeing the full video.
