Our birthday boy today is Sir John Abbott.
Here's a little background from Wikipedia:
Sir John Joseph Caldwell Abbott, PC, KCMG, QC (March 12, 1821 – October 30, 1893) was the third Prime Minister of Canada. He served in the office for seventeen months, from June 16, 1891 to November 24, 1892.
The LOCAL John Abbott - I have a friend, former colleague and fantastic writer whose name is also John Abbott. This John is on his own now, specializing in "marketing communication for insurance companies". Check out his web site, along with his monthly Petaluma Top Ten to get a sense of what he can do. If you decide to reach out to him, be sure to tell him Jason sent you.
But back to Sir John. Here are some of his notable quotes I pulled from several sources:
"I hate politics and what are considered their appropriate measures. I hate notoriety, public meetings, public speeches, caucuses and everything that I know of which is apparently the necessary incident of politics—except doing public work to the best of my ability."
“Every man's ability may be strengthened or increased by culture”
“War is the science of destruction.”
"How do you know so much about everything?' was asked of a very wise and intelligent man; and the answer was 'By never being afraid or ashamed to ask questions as to anything of which I was ignorant”
Cheers! - Jason
