Harold LeClair Ickes (March 15, 1874 – February 3, 1952) was a United States administrator and politician. He served as Secretary of the Interior for thirteen years, from 1933 to 1946. Ickes was responsible for implementing much of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's "New Deal" and is the father of Harold M. Ickes, who was deputy Chief of Staff under President Bill Clinton and was an adviser to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her tenure as Senator.
