Occasionally, here on The MMOB Daily Quote I get to root for the home town hero. But when that home town hero is Joe Cool himself, who can blame me.
Unquestionably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Montana helped bring the previously hapless San Francisco 49ers to the top of the NFL. If he has any fault, it was having attended Notre Dame for his collegiate "training". Other than that, he made for many a happy moment for my friends and growing up.
Let's get warmed up with a clip showing a series of highlights of Joe at work. Oh, that's fun!
And now, some quotes from Comeback Joe.
"Always be prepared to start."
"Cause there's only one reason for doing anything that you set out to do. if you don't want to be the best, then there's no reason going out and trying to accomplish anything."
"Confidence is a very fragile thing."
"I miss the game - I miss it a lot."
"In sports... you play from the time you're eight years old, and then you're done forever."
"My mother and father, Joe and Theresa Montana brought me along and taught me to never quit, and to strive to be the best."
"Some guys practice like all-Americans but they can't play!"
"There's no thrill like throwing a touchdown pass." - he ought to know, he threw 273 of them, many to one Jerry Rice!
"Winners, I am convinced, imagine their dreams first. They want it with all their heart and expect it to come true. There is, I believe, no other way to live."
Cheers! - Jason
